Home Tour: An apartment with eclectic harmony

Nestled in the heart of Montmartre, this 60 m² Haussmann apartment, sold by Junot, benefited from a complete renovation orchestrated by interior designer Lauranne Elise Schmitt. Inspired by classic references from the Memphis movement, it offers a bold reinterpretation of the Haussmann style, creating eclectic ambiances and a warm atmosphere.

What were the main challenges in the renovation of this apartment?

First of all, optimizing space was one of the major challenges of this apartment, where the objective was to create two bedrooms. Significant work has been done on the redistribution of parts. The original kitchen has been replaced by a bedroom/office and the old bedroom and bathroom by a master suite. Subsequently, the merger of the living room-dining room-kitchen space proved necessary, as did the reduction of the corridor.

The decoration part was also a real challenge. For this project, inspiration was drawn from the client's personality while integrating warm palettes (earth, ocher, tan, etc.) and exploring the subtleties of these tones. Combined with color, the materials create a warm atmosphere, particularly with the dark woods of the library and the mahogany kitchen, which stand out as precious elements.

How did you select furniture and decoration?

The owner placed his trust in me, and our common vision for the layout of the space was to create a cozy atmosphere with subtle and sophisticated references, inspired by English clubs and enhanced with Art Deco touches. Iconic design pieces, such as the Togo sofa, blend harmoniously with antique pieces, such as the vintage IKEA sideboard and armchairs by Karin Mobring, which fit perfectly into this environment.

Which room in this apartment did you particularly enjoy working?

The night section, and more particularly the master suite, offers a more daring creative opportunity with its subtle play of monochromes. However, we find the presence of mahogany in the dressing room, establishing a harmonious link with the living spaces. The entire bathroom and bedroom is structured like a refined setting, offering shades ranging from burgundy to earth tones, tan and plum.

What are your projects currently underway?

Currently, I have just completed the renovation of a 135 m² apartment, in the 16th arrondissement, which I consider to be a logical continuation of my work on the Montmartre apartment. Another project that is close to my heart is the renovation of a 450 m² mansion in Normandy and its 200 m² indoor swimming pool, which is scheduled for completion in 2024.
