Home Tour: The Parisian pied-à-terre by Garrow Kedigian
In the heart of the 9th arrondissement, in the New Athens district, American interior designer Garrow Kedigian welcomes us to his 105 m² Parisian pied-à-terre. Currently available for sale, this apartment has been completely redesigned to enhance its volumes and its character.
What are the potentials of the apartment who immediately appealed to you?
As soon as I saw this old private mansion transformed into a building during the Haussmann works, I was seduced by its architecture and perfect symmetry. Upon entering the apartment, what immediately struck me was the height of the ceilings, this omnipresent symmetry around the windows and the light that floods the space. This is what, in my opinion, gives all their charm to Haussmann apartments.
How did you rethink the spaces?
Liking welcoming people into my home, I wanted to extend the living room by separating it from the second bedroom, creating a large reception space. To accentuate this feeling of amplitude, I installed two mirrors on each side, playing with depth. The living room now extends over an area of almost 40m², which remains rare for a Parisian apartment. As for the separate kitchen-dining room, this room offers a contemporary contrast, bringing a touch of modernity to the whole apartment.

I define my style as eclectic, because I like to draw inspiration from various horizons such as Asia, Art Nouveau or even the codes of old Parisian mansions. I also attach particular importance to the colour. Like the architect Jean-Louis Deniot, I consider that an apartment reflects the personality of its occupant, and being naturally eccentric, this results in a bold selection of colors and decoration.
This apartment also pays homage to architecture and the decoration of the Haussmannian apartments of the 19th century, thus constituting a nod to their timeless elegance.
Which room in this apartment do you particularly like?
I like the living room which is distinguished by generous volumes, three large windows and a soaring ceiling more than 3 meters in height. Despite the scale of the room, I managed to create preserved spaces, real intimate cocoons.
What do you like about the Saint-Georges district?
For many Americans, the typical postcard of Paris is the Left Bank and Saint-Germain-des-Prés. More eclectic and vibrant, the 9th arrondissement offers a unique authenticity thanks to its architecture, its restaurants and its food shops – a true village spirit.
